[“Fireball”: Capturing Human Cancer in 3D] Capturing human tumour complexity requires models that go beyond traditional cell culture. This image shows a high-grade #glioma spheroid: a 3D CNS cancer model that mimics key features of tumour architecture. Unlike 2D cultures, these spheroids better reproduce the cellular organization, interactions, and invasive phenotype observed in vivo. At iBET - Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica, we develop human 3D cancer models across multiple indications, including breast, ovarian, lung carcinomas, and high-grade gliomas. These models integrate not only tumour cells but also other microenvironment components, including immune cells, helping to bridge the gap between simplified laboratory models and the complexity of human cancer. 🔗 Know more about our research on tumor and other tissue and disease advanced models: https://lnkd.in/djsjSXAa 📷This image, titled “Fireball”, was created by Inês de Sá, Francisca Arez, Madalena Simões Abade, Giacomo Domenici, and Catarina Brito from iBET’s Advanced Cell Models Lab, and was selected as one of the winning entries in our internal Bioimaging Contest. #CancerResearch #3DModels #TumorBiology #ImmunoOncology #Bioimaging #TranslationalResearch #Biotechnology #iBET #iBETBioimagingContest
