🇪🇸 Quantum Pacific Group acquired Los Gallos, the Season 4 SailGP championship-winning Spain team, on 9 April 2026, marking the twelfth franchise sale in the league's history. The deal price was not disclosed, though a person familiar with the matter said it did not exceed $60 million. That figure matters. SailGP sold its earliest franchises for between $5 million and $10 million. The Denmark team changed hands for $60 million in February 2026. The next franchise is understood to be selling for $70 million. "I know the next teams are in the process of selling for $70 million. I think we'll probably see $100 million valuations possibly by the end of this year." — Sir Russell Coutts, Co-founder and CEO, SailGP. Los Gallos is a privately owned national sailing team competing in a championship that caps the grid at 20 franchises, generating revenue through sponsorship, prize money, and host-city agreements. The scarcity is structural. The 2025 Spain Sail Grand Prix drew 23 million global viewers, making Spain one of the league's highest-audience markets. Quantum Pacific is the holding company of Israeli shipping tycoon Idan Ofer, whom Forbes estimates is worth $32.1 billion. His group now holds a controlling stake in FC Famalicão, a minority position in Atlético de Madrid, and the Movistar cycling team. Los Gallos completes the only Iberian sports trifecta assembled by a single investor: football in both countries, cycling, and now sailing. Any brand seeking deep Iberian reach must now negotiate with the same table. "We are delighted to welcome Los Gallos into the Quantum Pacific family. The Iberian region is a market we know well and believe in fully." — Antoine Bonnier, CEO of Quantum Pacific (UK) LLP. The league will make its Valencia debut on 5-6 September 2026, replacing four seasons in Cádiz. #SailGP #Spain #SportsBusiness #Iberia #Investment
