No safety without security. For us, this statement describes today’s technical reality. Modern vehicles are largely controlled by software and are permanently connected to their environment. As a result, software has become a safety‑relevant component of the vehicle throughout its entire lifecycle.   At the same time, the amount of software in vehicles continues to grow. Functions are added, errors are corrected and security vulnerabilities are addressed. This makes it clear that vehicle safety and #CyberSecurity can no longer be viewed in isolation. Without secure and controlled #SoftwareUpdates, neither risks nor regulatory requirements can be managed reliably.   In a world of #SoftwareDefinedVehicles, it is therefore not sufficient to simply provide software. Updates must be planned, secured, verified and fully traceable. This is exactly the role of a #SoftwareUpdateManagementSystem. It ensures that it is always known which software version is installed in which vehicle and that changes are implemented in a controlled and legally compliant manner.   Regulatory frameworks such as #UNR155 and #UNR156 make this approach mandatory. At the same time, the responsibility increases further with highly automated driving functions at #SAELevel3 and #SAELevel4. Security must be ensured not only today, but over many years. This also requires early consideration of #PostQuantumCrypto to maintain long‑term protection.   We support OEMs with a holistic #SUMS solution that brings together technology, processes and organization and treats software updates as an enabler for cybersecurity and safety. For questions and professional exchange, Claude-Pascal Stöber-Schmidt and Marco Siebert are happy to engage.
