As Andy Burnham prepares to enter No 10 Downing Street, a review by the Greek daily newspaper Ta Nea has found that he is set to become the first serving British Prime Minister with a long-standing and publicly documented record of supporting the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece. His support stretches back almost a quarter of a century: from parliamentary motions and Private Members' Bills he backed shortly after entering the House of Commons in 2001, to his time as Culture Secretary and, more recently, his call as Mayor of Greater Manchester to return the sculptures "with no strings attached."
