✨ Industry update: AbbVie has announced a $1.4 billion investment to build a 185-acre pharmaceutical manufacturing campus in Durham, North Carolina, its largest-ever capital investment in a single campus. Located near Research Triangle Park, the state-of-the-art facility will integrate advanced manufacturing, next-generation laboratory technologies, and AI to support the production of AbbVie's immunology, neuroscience, and oncology medicines. Construction kicks off in 2026, with completion targeted by the end of 2028. The campus will serve as AbbVie's US center of excellence for small-volume parenteral (SVP) manufacturing, producing sterile injectables and delivering medicines to patients across the US and globally. Over the next four years, AbbVie plans to create 734 permanent roles spanning engineers, scientists, manufacturing operators, and lab technicians, alongside 2,000+ construction jobs during development.
