The future of mobility isn’t only urban, it’s equally about improving access in rural communities. We collaborated with students from Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach to explore exactly these challenges. MARA (Mobility Alliance for Rural Areas) is a project developed together with students of the Offenbach Institute for Mobility Design (OIMD), which was supported by Hyundai Design Europe and Hyundai Connected Mobility. The results will be showcased at the World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 campus exhibition in Frankfurt starting July 3, 2026. MARA explores how autonomous mobility can become more than a transportation service and instead serve as a form of social infrastructure for rural communities, creating new opportunities for social interaction. At the same exhibition, our Design Innovation colleagues in Korea are showcasing a collaboration with Kookmin University, exploring public mobility service design for future cities.
