🌍 Cross-border taxes, real-world cases, and students from 5 countries. Welcome to the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme on International Taxation. In June, HWR Berlin hosted 25 students from Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Portugal, and Georgia for a week of international study. Together, they tackled complex topics like Cross-border M&A, VAT, and Transfer Pricing guided by Prof. Dr. Wojciech Stiller and a team of visiting experts from universities across Europe. Prior to the week in Berlin, students were given an individual task during an online kick-off session in May. They had to prepare country related facts and data on taxation for all EU Member States. During the week in Berlin, the students worked, discussed and presented case studies on cross-border case studies covering income taxes and VAT. Students mixed with each other and with HWR Berlin students to create an engaging, multicultural learning environment. They attended classes on topics such as ‘Cross-border Mergers & Acquisitions’, ‘VAT: Cross-border & Digital’ and ‘Transfer-Pricing’. The classes were led by Wojciech Stiller as well as international experts Hana Zídková (Prague University of Economics and Business), Alicja Brodzka (University of Economics, Wroclaw), Mario Marques (Universidade do Porto), Veronika Solilova (Prague University of Economics and Business), and Jana Tepperovaá (Prague University of Economics and Business). The colleagues from Prague had previously hosted a BIP on Taxation in December 2025, in which students from HWR Berlin also participated. Beyond the classroom participants explored the city together: a Berlin Photo Challenge, a visit to the Bundestag and the Holocaust Memorial, and a well-deserved Feierabend-Drink to close the week. 🍻 A huge thank you to Prof. Dr. Stiller, Tobias Lebens (International Office), all visiting lecturers, and most of all, to the students who brought fresh eyes to our campus and city. #ErasmusPlus #BIP #HWRBerlin #InternationalTaxation #HigherEducation #VAT #TransferPricing Fotos: privat
