From kindergarten to the classroom - how does this transition affect children? That’s exactly what the #SWITCH study at the Universität Leipzig is investigating. It is a long-term research project. We accompany children from their final year of #kindergarten through their first year of school. Our goal is to understand how this transition affects them socially, psychologically, and neurobiologically. How does the study work? First phase - Fall 2025 During the last year of kindergarten, we begin with an online questionnaire. Second phase - Spring 2026 A part of the families will be invited to take part in additional questionnaires and interviews, whereby the interaction between children and their caregivers is examined during the transition to secondary school. Third phase - Winter 2026/27 A part of the families take part in additional tests in which the interaction between children and their school friends is examined during the transition to secondary school. Fourth phase - Summer 2027 At the end of the first school year, a final questionnaire is completed by parents and teachers. Would you like to learn more about us?
