🧠 A study led by Martina Absinta – Associate Professor of Neurology at Humanitas University and Head of the Experimental Neuropathology Lab at Humanitas Research, alongside Francesca Fagiani and Edoardo Pedrini, uncovers how chronic inflammation drives cellular senescence and premature brain ageing in multiple sclerosis. From single-nucleus RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, to stem-cell organoids and MRI imaging, the team explored how chronic inflammation impacts the brain at molecular, cellular, and functional levels. 💡 Their findings show that chronic inflammation can trigger cellular aging processes that spread to surrounding tissues, revealing new potential therapeutic targets to slow down MS progression.
