We have been delighted to partner with Flogas on our ‘Sporting Heroes’ programme this year, honouring some inspiring people from within Drogheda and District. Warrior, captain, fearless, leader. Those attributes just about summed up St Fechin’s ladies GAA star, Orla McEvoy. She has helped guide her team through an incredible period that saw the club create new and lasting memories for decades to come. The ‘team of ‘25’ will be forever etched in history, winning county and provincial honours for the first time. Through it all, Orla McEvoy led with courage and determination, epitomised by her Leinster final showing, ending the game with a bandaged head and a closed eye! And what a superstar Dylan O’Boyle has been for Duleek FC over the course of the last two seasons, culminating in a first NEFL Premier Division title for the Tollstone men. Every team needs a goalscorer and Dylan has been that, bagging about 70 goals in those two campaigns. The former Drogheda United man was the hero on the final day of the season, his brace against Parkvilla handing the title to the green and white heroes. He suffered a bad knock in the early stages of the game, but stayed on the park and that was vital to their chances. Thanks again to Flogas for backing community and here’s to a winning 2026 too!
