Nike sponsors more World Cup teams than adidas. It doesn't have a single kit in today's final. France and England — Nike's two biggest national team partners — went home in the semis. Spain and Argentina play today. Both wear Adidas. Since the tournament started, Adidas shares are up 6%. Nike is up 1.4%. This is a portfolio problem, not a bad draw. Adidas holds Argentina (defending champions), Spain (2010 winners), Germany (four-time champions), and has been FIFA's official partner — including exclusive ball rights — since 1970. Nike built a bigger roster. Adidas built the right one. Nike is already in a turnaround. Stock down 35% in 2026. The World Cup was supposed to help. It didn't. Full breakdown — link in first comment.
