🧩 How is one of the body’s giant receptors regulated? 🔬 Researchers in the Francesca Coscia Group at Human Technopole have uncovered how the chaperone LRPAP1 binds Megalin, a major receptor involved in cellular uptake across organs including the kidney, brain, eye and thyroid. Published in Communications Biology, the study reveals a more complex interaction than previously thought. 💡 By showing how LRPAP1 can regulate access to Megalin and displace thyroglobulin, this work deepens our understanding of receptor biology in health and disease, and opens new paths for studying related disorders.
