This London Festival of Architecture HTA collaborated with Excel London and The Royal Docks to create Cardboard Machines. Lead by Lucy Smith, our Communications & Engagement team held a family friendly workshop that invited to children to think about the history of the docklands. Who might have lived and worked in the Royal Docks when they were first built? What machines were built here? What goods came in on the ships? The children used recycled cardboard and BeaverBot cutters to bring their ideas to life, creating cranes, robots, masks and figurines. HTA's Communications & Engagement team works closely with communities across our projects to build relationships with local people and ensure their voices are heard from the very start of the design process. Thank you to our fantastic volunteers at HTA and to BeaverBot for donating the machines for the event.
