Went to Barcelona to present Payhawk’s AI vision and what it means for finance to 150+ CFOs, and ended up doing a few volleys with Alex Corretja on stage 😁🤩 Some key insights from Josep M. (Pep) Martorell Rodon and my talk on where AI goes: ✅ 95% of routine finance tasks will be fully automated with AI, shifting the CFO's role entirely toward strategy. ✅ Invoice fetching, expense capture, payment reconciliation, and controller review will achieve full automation by 2026. ✅ AI labs hit the public data wall in 2024; now, highly engineered synthetic data is the ultimate key to advanced training and model reasoning. ✅ The real cost of AI infrastructure is likely 4-5x higher than what we pay today due to massive energy demands. Over the next 12 months, the industry's main focus will be unlocking its true ROI potential. For those that want to get deeper on AI, the three pillars creating the perfect storm right now are: ✅ The proliferation of data available for training foundational models. ✅ Data center scaling: As traditional Moore's Law slows down, our ability to cluster massive networks of GPUs allows us to build unprecedented computing power. ✅ The invention of the Transformer. By using multi-dimensional embeddings and attention mechanisms, it maps context flawlessly, meaning AI finally understands the exact nuance of how a word is being used. Highly recommended to read once in a lifetime -> the original research paper “Attention is All You Need”. P.S. The ball was for kids, otherwise we would have done a better job 🎾😁
