Rain or shine, our community showed up in a big way! On Wednesday, Virginia Peninsula Foodbank partnered with Nexstar Media Group, Inc. and WAVY-TV 10 for their Founder’s Day of Caring. This drive comes at a critical time as we head into the summer months, when food banks often see a decrease in donations. Community support is especially important right now to help ensure children and families have continued access to the food they need to thrive. Despite passing rain showers, donors didn’t let up. By the end of the day, more than 3,000 pounds of food were collected and immediately distributed to our partner agencies for local families. With additional monetary gifts, the event helped provide over 15,000 meals.
