Happy Earth Day! At the Foodbank, 40% of all the food we distribute is fresh produce, grown and harvested from the Earth. A healthy community and planet mean taking care of the land that grows our food and ensuring access to what nourishes our families and neighbors. Today, our Community Food Pantry celebrated Earth Day by preparing snacks for neighbors with fresh ingredients provided by the Foodbank. We also held a mobile pantry at the Hampton Coliseum, where volunteers handed out kale, pears, cucumbers, grapefruit, and more. Our mission to end hunger on the Peninsula is made possible through our partnerships and the efforts of regional cooperatives, local farmers, urban farms, and community gardens. When we come together, everyone can access fresh, culturally important food needed to stay mentally and physically healthy. #EarthDay #Community #FreshProduce #FoodforAll #GiveBack
