Did you know the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank partners with more than 120 agencies serving individuals and families experiencing food insecurity across the Peninsula? These partners include food pantries and other local food programs located throughout the community. As the only food bank on the Peninsula, we secure millions of pounds of food from retail and individual donors, government programs, and through our own purchasing power. That food is then distributed to these organizations so they can serve their neighbors in ways that best meet their community’s needs. Hunger relief is truly a community effort. While the Foodbank stores and distributes food across the region, partner agencies provide it directly to neighbors through local programs and distribution sites. We could not serve nearly as many people as we do without their dedication to providing access to fresh, nutritious food for anyone in need. This month, we’ll be highlighting one partner agency each week.
