Last week, one Williamsburg family took action to help children in our area who are facing hunger. They purchased 75 backpacks, filled them with kid-friendly food, and donated them to support students in the Kids Café program at the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank. After shopping, they set up an assembly line in their home, with grandparents, kids, nieces, and nephews all pitching in. As they shared with us, “Sometimes thinking about making a measurable impact can feel paralyzing, but small actions add up. A lot of hands make light work.” Because of their generosity, students will head into the classroom nourished, supported, and ready to focus on learning. We’re grateful for community members who show what’s possible when families come together to care for one another.
