Can you tell a story with numbers? That's the power of data visualisation - having the ability to take numbers, data, or results and create meaning in them, in ways people can more easily interpret. There are principles for data visualisation that can help you create the most quickly interpreted plots or graphs For example -> avoid zones of irrelevance! The Problem: Bar and column charts can often create zones of irrelevance, which create a clunky appearance with wasted attention to parts of data that are irrelevant A Solution: A lollipop chart can be a creative alternative to remove the zone of irrelevance. It also adds an extra dimension to the plot – line lengths represent difference from the mean All this was taught to me by the brilliant Shaun McLaren who leads our Data Skills Group Mentorship. We created a Data Visualisation quick guide to help you consider how you present data. Comment "data" and I'll get that sent over to you!
