Reports claim Qatar Energy has decided to cease plans to increase LNG output at Ras Laffan for the time being. Gas prices in both the East and West climbed again to reflect the market's bearish outlook towards near-term peace in the Middle East. Despite what feels like never-ending uncertainty, a healthy volume of spot and mid-term deals were concluded over the week as the fixing window shifts towards the latter half of August. The USG-JKTC arb remains firmly open for transits via Panama but has been flickering between open and closed for cross-basin trade via the Cape of Good Hope. With Atlantic laycans stacking towards the tail-end of August, additional open tonnage continues to emerge aiming to satisfy demand in the US Gulf.
