The compensation scheme for transition payments is set to disappear completely from 2027. A significant shift: employers will bear the full cost of dismissals following long-term illness or business closure. While employees retain their rights, the practical impact could be substantial, including a potential rise in dormant employment (where employees formally remain employed without working or pay). This also creates new uncertainty, as current legal standards expect employers to cooperate in ending such dormant contracts.
