This coming weekend is a busy one for several members, including one specific member. On Saturday, members will be partaking in the Dawn to Dusk ride from Ness Point at Lowestoft, which is the furthest eastern point of England to Lands End the furthest western point. But we are not going the shortest route, as we have FIVE checkpoints. And for our member John, whom served in the Grenadier Guards. He has an additional challenge. John is going to leave his home in the Pennines, travel to Lowestoft, partake in the Dawn to Dusk ride and then travel back to the Pennines all within 24 hours. Just over 1000 miles in total. All on his Triumph Motorcycles Limited Tiger. John is doing this for the Colonel's Fund Grenadier Guards and has so far raised over £1000. He has been preparing himself, with several 12 hour day long rideouts, and also prepared himself with food and drink intake as well as temperature control. In terms of testing out various layers and type of clothing. Some members also have over 1000 miles round trip, but will be staying over at various locations on their round trip. In which one member will also be travelling through the night for over 3 hours after departing Lands End, via A roads and B roads as well as unnamed and unlit roads to stop over next to a field that was used as an Embarkation area for D-Day, in which they will be attending an event hosted by Jack Beckett containing vehicles wearing the Guards Armoured Division "All Seeing Eye" the next day for a few hours. Of which several Sherman Tanks will be travelling under their own power within a Convoy of many other WW2 vehicles. And what a sight it is to behold. Of which 82 years ago, some of these very same vehicles were actually travelling along the same roads and also grouped in the same field, ready for their journey across the Channel. Meanwhile back in the Pennines and Manchester, 2 members will be having a well deserved lay in after their long ride back home. And fingers crossed. John has done his journey within 24 hours. Meanwhile in the Midlands. Members will be getting ready for a meetup in the Derbyshire Peak District for a Fathers Day rideout. The weather forecast for each location over the weekend is fantastic, however the temperature Friday night Saturday morning is forecast to be 21 degrees and will be as low as 14 degrees when we arrive at Lands End and as low as 11 degrees for John when he arrives back home in the Pennines.
