🌱 Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has published the UK’s International Action Plan for Plant Health 2026–2030, setting out 20 ambitions to strengthen global biosecurity and protect the UK from the threat of non-native plant pests and diseases. 🛡️🌍 Effective plant health measures are essential for UK environmental horticulture. Strong biosecurity helps protect our environment 🌳, supports resilient supply chains 🚛 and enables the safe movement of plants through international trade. 🌿 We welcome the plan's focus on international collaboration 🤝, global pest monitoring 🔍 and plant health standards. However, we will be closely monitoring as the roadmap is implemented, as it will be important that these ambitions are delivered in a way that supports UK businesses, maintains market access and avoids unnecessary barriers to trade. We look forward to engaging with Defra and partners as the strategy develops, ensuring that robust biosecurity and a thriving horticulture sector continue to go hand in hand. 🌼 📖 Read the full action plan on GOV.UK: https://lnkd.in/ehhgWFaV #PlantHealth 🌱 #Biosecurity 🛡️ #Horticulture 🌿 #EnvironmentalHorticulture #UKTrade 🌍 #Defra
