The AI Ambassador Network is officially 1 π₯³ π π We celebrated with more than 1,700 of you at our monthly gathering, where once again #NHSAIAmbassadors learnt, shared and connected! So, who did we hear from on our birthday? π€ We started with Dominic Cushnan and Lauren Harkins giving us an update on the development of the AI roadmap, which is the national delivery mechanism by which to co-ordinate a safe and consistent system for AI adoption. Hundreds of you have responded to a survey to help shape the roadmap. Here are some of the highlights: β The survey shows a system that recognises the importance of AI governance but is still at an early and uneven stage of maturityβ β Leadership understanding and workforce capability emerge as the binding constraints β β National support is expected but not yet felt strongly enough β π€ We were then presented with findings from a The Health Foundation survey that was HOT OFF THE PRESS π₯ Published just today, Nell Thornton and Ahmed Binesmael gave us the key findings from a study on attitudes to technology and AI in health care. Here's a very quick snapshot: π Sentiment towards technology in health care remains broadly positive, despite a small increase in negative views over the past year π Support for AI in health care has seen a small increase π The public supports most proposed new uses of the NHS App in England π NHS staff are more positive about tech and AI in health care than the public π Public attitudes towards the regulation, oversight and use of AI in health care are generally cautious π There are consistent differences in perceptions between different groups π You can read it in full here: https://lnkd.in/eMa3eDWm βοΈ And Nell's blog on why AI in health care must earn the public's trust here: https://lnkd.in/eAS9HBYf π΅ We all then settled down with a cuppa for a fireside chat between Dom and Alastair Denniston, the Chairβ of the National Commission into the Regulation of AI in Healthcareβ. The pair discussed all sorts from challenges around procurement to digital sovereignty, and from Alastair's role at the National Commission to balancing innovation with safety. And finally, James Freed the Deputy Director of the NHS England Digital Academyβ introduced what will be a regular series - bite sized learning sessions on AI. Make sure you join us at our future sessions to benefit! Lastly, a HUGE THANK-YOU to all AI Ambassadors who've made the last twelve months a blast! Your dedication, energy and kindness each month has made the network what it is today and we couldn't be more grateful! We can't wait to see what the next year brings with all 14-thousand of you with us π€ As Dom says in our 1-year celebration video "Year two starts now!" β€οΈ
