Well it’s only Wednesday and we’ve seen Britain's Prime Minister resign and the whole country is in the midst of trying not to melt, as we swelter in the hottest temperatures on record! ☀️ It’s been quite the week already and as we await the expected news that former health secretary Andy Burnham is set to become the next Prime Minister, it begs the question – What will the new PM’s NHS plans be? 💙 In The Guardian article (https://lnkd.in/e-F5B5Hm ) by Jeremy Hunt he says: “...health service insiders no longer say the issue is money but productivity. They have been puzzling over why, since 2020, the total number of staff across NHS England has grown by 20% but activity has only gone up by 10%.” (source: https://lnkd.in/dhhC6C-r ) Productivity needs to start with people, led with compassion – it’s not simply about doing more, it’s about doing better together by creating the conditions for people to do their best… and that’s where the “Modern Productive Series” comes in. 🙌 NHS Horizons along with our partners are helping to reimagine and re-frame productivity as a team sport. We need clinical, operational and people led productivity to all work together if we are to increase overall productivity in the NHS. This means paying attention to the formal process driven side of our work AND the human, emotional and cultural aspects of how we work together. 🤝 The “Mod Prod Squad” gathered last week to share successes of the work already taking place in trusts through the series and help take this important work to the next level. Our group recognises: 🔹 Productivity often presents as a burden from above, rather than a purpose from within. Productivity starts and ends with people. People-led productivity is getting things done in a way that leaves people motivated, healthy, and united in purpose. We already know what to do. The challenge is breaking the cycle of busyness to ask is there a better way? 🔹 People-led work isn’t “soft”- it’s the foundation Wellbeing, agency and voice aren’t extras - they are what drive performance, cost and quality. 🔹 This isn’t a new programme - it’s a different way of working Not more initiatives…Just doing everyday work differently. 🎇 Whilst you’re doing the work - do this. 🎇 This collective is creating the conditions for people to fall back in love with their work, where colleagues feel seen and heard so that productivity can increase.
