Great discussion at the recent AI-for-Cyber experimentation sandbox session hosted by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), where CII owners and industry partners explored practical AI use cases for cybersecurity. The timing was particularly relevant after reading Gartner’s recent report on the “Top 5 Real-World Cybersecurity Use Cases for AI”. Despite strong interest in GenAI and agentic AI: 💡 55% of CISOs reported costly workarounds due to vendor overpromises; 💡 43% said AI-assisted tools failed to deliver expected outcomes; 💡 MIT research suggested up to 95% of GenAI pilots fail to move into production. What stood out is that the most successful AI-for-cyber deployments today are highly practical and operationally focused:  🔹 AI SOC agents for alert enrichment and workflow automation;  🔹 AI assistants embedded into existing security platforms;  🔹 AI-assisted secure coding;  🔹 AI-driven third-party risk questionnaire automation;  🔹“Policybots” to simplify access to cybersecurity policies.
