I am thrilled beyond belief to highlight and celebrate two young ladies of distinction and achievement. Let me present to some and introduce to others, Attorney Emerald Evans and Attorney Kourtney Kinchen! I had the honor of having these young lawyers serve as interns during my time at Indianapolis Juvenile Court. Attorney Evans worked tirelessly on a project creating a law institute for a charter school. Attorney Kinchen provided invaluable assistance in creating a data base for our dual status court. Attorney Evans is a 2025 graduate of the Indiana University Robert McKiney School of Law and passed the Indiana Bar exam. Attorney Kinchen is a 2025 graduate of Duke University School of Law and recently passed the California Bar exam. And now here they stand — not just as attorneys — but as leaders in the making. There is a particular joy in watching young Black women rise in spaces that were not always built with them in mind. They crossed those thresholds with discipline, brilliance, and grace. Their success is earned, deserved, and deeply significant. They are proof that perseverance matters. That excellence is not accidental. And that the future of this profession is, indeed, bright. Emerald and Kourtney— the world needs your voice. Your advocacy. Your presence. Stand tall. Walk boldly. And make no apologies for the light you carry. Congratulations, Attorneys. ⚖️✨ Your ascent has only just begun.
