Holcim Schweiz / Suisse / Svizzera has just unveiled plans for "Holcim Lab", the new visitor at our Siggenthal plant. With construction set to begin in 2027, it will serve as a as a public forum dedicated to sustainable construction. What makes the project so groundbreaking? 👉 By continuing to use the existing structure of the former barn, we are significantly minimizing embodied emissions 👉 Innovative Carbon Prestressed Concrete (CPC) elements for ceilings and roofs use thin carbon strands instead of steel and ensure material savings of around 75% 👉 Heating will be more energy efficient thanks to the direct use of waste heat from existing industrial plants on the factory premises 🗨️ "Our goal is to design an inspiring building, drawing on the site's industrial DNA through the use of sustainable materials and open architecture. We are delighted to be shaping this place of the future alongside Holcim."
