As the world’s first light rail service operating on a floating bridge, Sound Transit's Crosslake Connection marks a defining moment for the region’s transit system and for complex infrastructure delivery. The project showcases significant technical advancement in support of long-term durability — from specialized track systems to first‑of‑its‑kind cathodic protection designed to safeguard pontoons and anchor cables. HNTB provided construction management services, delivering innovative track design, specialized structural protection and highly integrated systems coordination across the floating bridge. These contributions supported completion of the 2 Line and advanced the region’s 63‑mile light rail network.
