Lord Timpson recently visited Swansea Probation Delivery Unit to see first-hand the enhanced safety measures being piloted on site, putting staff protection first by using body scanners and handheld security wands. This was an opportunity to see how the changes are working in practice and crucially, to hear directly from staff using them every day. During the visit, Lord Timpson spent time with operational staff, listening to their views on what has made a positive difference and where further improvements could be considered. Insights from Swansea alongside other pilot sites over the next 12 months will help shape future staff safety measures — ensuring they are practical, effective and rooted in real-world experience.
