Meet the people behind digital signalling in South East Queensland.   Shalini Perera, Telecommunications Engineer at Hitachi Rail in Australia, is helping design the communications network behind the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 currently being installed across key parts of the region’s rail network.   From data radio systems to fibre transmission networks, her work ensures continuous communication between trains, trackside equipment and the Rail Management Centre.   This constant flow of real-time data allows trains to run closer together, improving frequency and reliability for passengers. It’s a critical part of supporting the digital transformation of the rail network.
