At this year’s York Festival of Ideas at the National Railway Museum, we shared our experiences of working in rail and highlighted the opportunities available to young people starting their careers. 🚆 While rail is often associated with trains, tracks and stations, our industry is powered by a much broader range of skills and career paths. Our apprentices brought this to life, speaking to visitors about roles spanning engineering, digital technology, innovation and problem-solving, and showing how these skills are helping shape the future of transport. By engaging directly with visitors, they helped make rail careers feel tangible, accessible and exciting, showcasing the breadth of opportunities across the sector and inspiring the next generation of talent.
