Post by Hiroshi Ichise
Immunologist, Associate Professor @Kyoto University
I am excited to share that I have opened my lab as part of the new Microscopy Platform at the Center for Cancer Immunotherapy and Immunobiology (CCII), Kyoto University. Our lab aims to understand how cellular communication in three-dimensional tissues governs immunity, tissue homeostasis, and disease, by combining advanced tissue imaging approaches including highly multiplexed 3D immunofluorescence and spatial analysis. We have a particularly strong interest in #neuroimmunology and in understanding how neural, immune, and stromal interactions shape tissue function in health and disease. We are also interested in contributing to society by developing 3D diagnosis with our technique. The multiplex imaging approach that forms an important foundation of our work was developed during my time at the #NIH under the supervision of Dr. Ron Germain. I would like to express my deepest respect and sincere gratitude for his extraordinary mentorship, which has been instrumental in shaping my academic journey! We are actively #hiring and welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds and career stages, including undergraduate students, graduate students, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, research technicians, and computational scientists with expertise in or strong interest in spatial biology. We especially welcome motivated individuals excited about #imaging, #immunology, neuroimmunology, #spatialbiology, and interdisciplinary science. CCII is a relatively new research center established within Kyoto University’s Graduate School of Medicine under the founding leadership of Dr. Tasuku Honjo, whose pioneering work helped transform the field of cancer immunotherapy. It is a privilege to start this new lab in such an inspiring environment. With many young principal investigators and a new institute structure, CCII offers a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere for building new ideas and interdisciplinary science.
