When does "Leave No Trace" become total erasure? 🧵🏚️ We’ve all been taught the golden rule of historical exploration: Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints. I lived by that dogma for years...until I stood in the ruins of an erased North Carolina textile community, looking down at a waterlogged box of history rotting into mulch. With the main mill building already flattened into a mountain of rubble and the riverfront lot up for grabs to the highest condo developer, sticking to the rules didn't feel like respect.
