The green light for creating the Hilti Foundation was given in 1996 to support the research work of underwater archaeologist Franck Goddio. Since then, the work of the Hilti Foundation has expanded considerably. Together with a network of international aid organizations and partners, the Foundation has pursued sustainable goals, focusing its efforts on three thematic areas: Music for Social Change, Affordable Housing & Technology and Economic Empowerment. All three fields have a single common goal: They want to enable disadvantaged people to become economically independent through their own efforts, allowing them to lead better, self-determined lives.
