Tidal is going up two dollars a month in August. First increase in three years, from $10.99 to $12.99. On its own, forgettable. The part worth your attention is what Tidal did alongside it. They will stop paying royalties on tracks that are entirely AI-generated, and they will flag or pull music that fakes a real artist's voice. Spotify went the other way and left the door open. So this is a real fork. One service is betting that people paying for lossless also care whether a human made the thing they are hearing. The other is betting you will not notice. For a hi-fi audience, that bet lands close to home. We spend money chasing the last five percent of fidelity. It would be strange to obsess over the DAC and shrug at whether the recording came from a person or a prompt. Two dollars is nothing. What it buys, a library with a line drawn against AI filler, might turn out to matter more than the price. Worth it, or not? I think it is. https://lnkd.in/eUuvexvQ #HiFi #Audiophile #MusicStreaming #Tidal #AImusic
