- British manufacturer Audio Note introduced Izvor, their first modular discrete R-2R ladder DAC board developed over twelve years of extensive engineering research. - According to the manufacturer, Izvor utilizes high-quality, large-scale analog resistors rather than standard miniature SMD components to achieve a more natural, analog-like sound. - Developer Darko Greguras claims the new architecture allows for precise sound tuning by leveraging a proprietary new resistor type designed specifically for this project. - The Izvor technology will be available for flagship models including Fifth Element, DAC5, and DAC4.1 Balanced, with an upgrade program for existing device owners. - The company claims this development continues their 'Direct from Disc' philosophy, an approach pioneered by their non-oversampling DAC5 model launched back in 1996.
