📢 Publication alert! Happy to share that our research from the Centre for Brain Research (CBR) IISc, Bengaluru, is now published in npj Parkinson's Disease! 🧬 As Parkinson's disease genetics has been studied predominantly in populations of European ancestry, expanding genomic research in Indian cohorts is essential to better understand population-specific genetic variation and move towards more inclusive precision medicine. In this study, we performed whole-genome sequencing of the SKAN cohort, comprising both early-onset Parkinson's disease (EOPD) and late-onset Parkinson's disease (LOPD) patients, and identified novel pathogenic variants. Our findings contribute to a better understanding of the genetic architecture of Parkinson's disease in the Indian population and add to the growing body of knowledge on Parkinson's disease genetics. This publication has been a journey of learning, perseverance, and collaboration. I am sincerely grateful to my mentor, Dr. Shweta Ramdas, whose mentorship, encouragement, and trust have been invaluable in shaping my growth as a researcher, as well as to all my co-authors and collaborators, whose expertise made this work possible.
