Could building costs rise again from 1 July? HIA is warning that the scheduled end of fuel excise relief and the pause on heavy vehicle road user charges could trigger another round of cost increases across the residential building industry. Fuel is a critical input throughout construction, from freight and logistics to earthmoving equipment and trades travelling between jobs. When fuel costs rise, the impact is felt across the entire supply chain. At a time when builders are already managing higher costs and Australia needs more homes, avoiding additional pressure on housing delivery should remain a priority. We're calling for a three-month extension of the relief measures to help the industry absorb existing cost increases and avoid another price shock. #FuelExcise #HousingIndustryAU
