Congratulations to our 2026 HIA Australian Renovation/Addition Project winner, Elder Constructions. This Moonee Ponds project combined meticulous restoration with bold modern design. A former nursing home built in 1886 was fully restored, cast iron friezes, balustrades, bluestone, and decorative brickwork carefully recreated, while a striking contemporary extension adds dramatic vertical cladding and copper roof detailing. Beneath the extension, a basement includes a sauna, steam room, gym, games room, car lift, turntable, and five-car storage. Lush gardens, water features, and a glazed link create a harmonious connection between old and new. From 27,000 individually laid cobblestones to a full CBUS home automation system, every element reflects precision, craftsmanship, and innovation.
