Electrification has long been part of how we operate at our Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA) in Hamburg – and it continues to shape how our colleagues work today. Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) have been running on electric power for years. For colleagues like Team Leader Sebastian Thiess, this has fundamentally changed day-to-day work in the workshop. Instead of maintaining diesel engines, the focus is now on monitoring and analysing highly automated, electric systems. “We spend more time testing than repairing”, Sebastian explains. Modern battery technologies and diagnostic tools have made processes more efficient, while also reducing emissions and resource use. This transition also means continuous learning. Sebastian and his team have expanded their expertise in electronics and digital systems to keep pace with rapidly evolving technology. For him, electrification is not just a technical upgrade, it’s a key step towards more sustainable terminal operations. #HHLA #ThePowerofNetworks #Sustainability
