Thanks to the NEPHEWS project's support for early-stage researchers we had the pleasure to welcome Michał Dominów as our intern for the week. During his visit he got to know our facilities and exchanged research ideas with our team. 'I really enjoyed the whole visit, especially getting accustomed to free electron lasers technology', says Michał (on the right in the picture). 'Looking back on my stay at HFML-FELIX, from a research perspective, works on metal clusters (by Dr. Olga Lushchikova) using the FELICE laser was really interesting. Works on catalytic processes on a molecular level and transition metal clusters are close to my own research, performed at Gdańsk University of Technology, which sparks possibilities for the future. Mass spectroscopy combined with infrared spectroscopy was also prospective and interesting, and was a nice supplement to my previous experience with spectroscopic methods.' It is always a pleasure opening our doors to visiting young researchers and we really appreciate the effort #NEPHEWS puts into supporting user access to Europe’s neutron, synchrotron, and free-electron laser research infrastructures.
