🎬 When Viruses Become Drugs Antibiotic resistance is one of the most urgent health challenges of our time. Faced with this threat, HES-SO University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland researchers are exploring a promising avenue: bacteriophage therapy. Our new video gives the floor to three teams involved in a joint project funded by the HES-SO: 🔬 HEIA-FR (BCC) – Dr Carmen Jungo Rhême & Samuel Garcia are working to standardise phage production according to a Quality by Design approach, aligned with FDA and EMA requirements. 🧬 HES-SO Valais-Wallis – Dr Wolfram Brück sequences the DNA of each phage to establish a ‘genetic passport’ guaranteeing its safety before any clinical use. 🏥 CHUV – Dr Grégory Resch coordinates the selection and production of phages administered to patients. Today, CHUV is the only academic institution in the world licensed by a national medicines authority (Swissmedic) to manufacture phages for human use under GMP conditions. A unique authorisation. An unprecedented collaboration. And a clear ambition: to prove the efficacy of these treatments in clinical trials. 👉 Read more about the project in the article: https://lnkd.in/eTWqQZSP #PhageTherapy #Research #HESSO #AntibioticResistance #Innovation #GMP #Biotechnology HES-SO University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland College of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg Gaetan Cherix CRISP - Centre de recherche et d’innovation en sciences pharmaceutiques cliniques CHUV
