From a DM 20,000 startup to a global technology leader – when Herrenknecht GmbH was officially entered into the Commercial Register in January 1978, its mission was already cleary defined: “development, sale and servicing of tunnel boring machines”. Back then, it was a considerable amount of money. Just one year later, in 1979, the company generated its first million euros in revenue with a team of only seven employees. New offices and an assembly plant with a total area of 1,788 m² opened in Schwanau, the training of our first apprentice was initiated, and a telex machine connected the newly established business to its customers around the world.
