Excited to share our progress in developing coarse-grained poly(ADP-ribose) (PAR) model with explicit divalent ions (Mg2+ and Ca2+), now published in Nucleic Acids Research! We show that extensive ion-bridging interactions accessible to PAR drive distinct conformational changes and ion-rich atmosphere compared to RNA. The next step is to extend this model to study PAR branching that is currently experimentally difficult to study systematically.
