"𝑫𝒂𝒅, 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝑰 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒅𝒐 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒅𝒂𝒚." That’s the kind of reaction I hope to hear from my son — perhaps one day when we visit the FIFA Museum "Innovation in Action" Exhibition together. It’s truly worth a visit: a fascinating journey through the last 10–15 years of football technology. At the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga, we’ve been part of this journey from the very beginning. From the earliest exploratory talks (with Johannes Holzmüller, Lukas Brud) and our partners in crime (KNVB, DFB, Gijs de Jong, Giel Kirkels, Dirk Schlemmer, Alexander Ernst, Tim Achberger, Lukas Glöckner, Christian Holzer, Markus Garscha) — to major milestones such as GLT, EPTS, VAR, SAOT, and many derivative innovations along the way. This week, key stakeholders gathered again at the Home of FIFA in Zurich (kudos to Nicolas Evans). Always a pleasure to exchange ideas with universities, leagues, federations, industry partners, key people (i.e. Raúl Peláez, Christina Chase, Christopher Schlosser, Alessandro Arduino, Adam Carter, Dr. Sebastian Koppers, Sameer Patel, Sebastian Runge, Ian Wray) — all working together to shape the future of the game. My guiding principle remains: 👉 Address practical needs. Serve people. And ultimately — serve football itself. What’s next? SALT (--> semi-auto last touch detection) ? fully-auto something? Time will tell. But one thing is certain: it will shape how the next generation — including my son — will experience football. ⚽
