I’m pleased to share that I recently presented my first research poster at the EGA institute of Women’s Health 20th Annual Conference, showcasing the work I completed through the Rani Rawji Studentship on using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) to monitor the placenta. Although I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, I genuinely enjoyed speaking with everyone who stopped by to ask questions. It truly felt like a full-circle moment, especially as before July of this year, I was completely new to the field of NIRS spectroscopy, fetal growth restriction and hypoxic brain injuries! A massive thank you to my supervisors, Dr Niccole Ranaei-Zamani and Professor Subhabrata Mitra, for their teaching, patience and support throughout the project. Their guidance has helped me build confidence not only with the technology and data analysis, but with the research process as a whole. This experience has taught me so much, both scientifically and professionally, and I’m excited to keep growing in my career while exploring where this promising field can go next.
