Twenty years ago, I thought I understood how household energy transitions worked. The prevailing debate was whether households moved up the energy ladder or whether they simply stacked multiple fuels. But after revisiting my own research and reflecting on today's rapidly changing energy landscape, I began to wonder whether we have been looking at the issue the wrong way. What if households do not simply switch fuels? What if they continuously adjust their energy choices—sometimes moving up the ladder, sometimes down it, while balancing multiple fuels and stove technologies at the same time? In my latest article, I revisit two decades of research and explore the concept of fuel and stove balancing. Most importantly, I ask a simple question: Are we measuring energy transition the right way? I would love to hear your thoughts. #CleanCooking #ECooking #EnergyTransition #EnergyAccess #EnergyPolicy #CleanEnergy #AreWeMeasuringEnergyTransitiontheWrongWay
