This week, Dr Katie Gaudion, Senior Research Associate at the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, facilitated a workshop at the festival co-hosted by the Bournemouth University Centre for Seldom Heard Voices and BEAF Arts at Patch. Using the Design for Mind Sensory Cards, participants explored the sensory qualities of the space around them, collectively identifying elements that created comfort, caused friction, and revealed the diverse ways people experience the same environment. By using the room itself as a live canvas, the workshop encouraged reflection on sensory differences and how design can support more inclusive experiences. The event brought together researchers, artists and practitioners from a range of disciplines, creating opportunities to share ideas, learn from one another, and explore creative approaches to inclusion and participation. A huge thank you to the Bournemouth University Centre for Seldom Heard Voices and BEAF Arts for hosting such a thoughtful event, and to everyone who contributed their knowledge and experiences throughout the day.
