Introducing the redesigned Design for Mind - Sensory Cards Led by Dr Katie Gaudion, the Design for Mind - Sensory Cards were originally co-created with autistic adults with intellectual disabilities and limited spoken communication. Following growing interest in the resource, the cards were evaluated and redeveloped in 2025 with input from teachers, interior designers, occupational therapists, caregivers, and neurodivergent participants. The expanded set now includes 131 cards, featuring new patterns and colours to support a deeper understanding of sensory experiences and preferences. The cards can be used to: • Explore individual sensory preferences • Better understand the experiences of others • Facilitate conversations and activities • Inspire more inclusive indoor and outdoor environments Many thanks to Autism at Kingwood, the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, the RCA Research Impact Fellowship, the project advisory group, and all participants who contributed their expertise and lived experience to the redevelopment of the cards.
